Green Light is GP Connect

The Team

The GP Connect team is led by a pharmacist, Sharon Hart, who in addition to having experience in a variety of pharmacy sectors, also has experience of leadership development/training and change management. Sharon works to support individual and team development and growth. GP Connect Pharmacists have access to this support and the opportunity to develop their non-clinical skills through formal and informal mentoring and coaching. Sharon is supported by GP trainer partners from the Bromley by Bow Health Partnership, namely Dr Khyati Bakhai and Dr Selvaseelan Selvarajah (Selva), who provide the pharmacists with clinical training and mentoring at group, and where necessary at an individual level. This partnership with the GPs provides excellent learning opportunities for GP Connect pharmacists.

We pride ourselves with providing training that supports our Practice Based Pharmacists to help prepare them for working in General Practice or to enhance their skills, both professionally and personally. Training is delivered by experienced pharmacists and GP Trainers. A number of different topics have been covered to date including; Dementia, COPD, Mental Health, Preparation for General Practice, to name a few.

We have specific fee-paying training dates for pharmacists not employed by Green Light which are popular (see testimonials).

John Foreman
Co-Founder, Director and Partner of the Green light Healthcare Ltd.

John Foreman is the Co-Founder, Director and Partner of the Greenlight Healthcare Ltd. He graduated in New Zealand and then gained his membership to RPSGB in 1991, working in community pharmacy in the UK before opening the first Green Light Pharmacy branch in Euston in 1999. John continued to work as a pharmacist in this branch until 2005 and from that time has led the expansion of the Group, promoting the Green Light brand which has become synonymous with exemplary service provision for the benefit of the patient/client. To John and the Green Light ‘co-owners’ (employees), Green Light is not just a business – it is an ethical model for sustainability, built on the principles of innovative service provision, employee ownership and community integration, with a 100-year vision.

John has a vision for pharmacy which stretches beyond the normal boundaries for community pharmacy and in 2005, the first university teaching community pharmacy was established at GL in Euston.

John pioneered early stop smoking support services and patient group/peer lead healthy lifestyle education in the early 2000’s. John and Co-Founder Tim O’Donoghue have numerous achievements including, in 2000, the UK Smoking Cessation Pharmacist of the year, 2003 the Hugh Linstead Research Award and in 2004 the Ann Anstice Memorial Award (for services to community pharmacy). John’s philosophy of patient-centred care has led to the development of several innovative & visionary services particularly around patient education & medication adherence.

In relation to Green Light, John says “It is my aim to develop Green Light as a peerless model for healthcare delivery to the community hand in hand with being a sustainable organisation that organically grows to have an international presence”.

QIPP & Medicines Optimisation were key to John’s practice before the terms became cornerstones of national policy. Through his leadership of Green Light John has demonstrated that it is possible to have a successful business and put patients/customers first by placing community pharmacy and the services it offers at the heart of local communities. The vision that drives John is for a new kind of pharmaceutical care and his aspirations are indicative of his commitment and passion for caring.

John is one of the Directors of Green Light GP Connect and together with Sharon, Khyati and Selva is looking forward to developing and growing GP Connect to be a leading provider of Practice Based Pharmacist Services.

John loves travelling to the developing world and says it’s the cornerstone to his development. He even once travelled over a two-year period with a colleague, driving through the Amazon whilst writing for Land Rover! Presently, with any spare time after the family, he enjoys kayak fishing, gardening and a variety of sports.
